We carry three misos: Japanese Organic White Miso, Organic Japanese Style Living (unpasteurised) Miso, and Chickpea Miso. The "living" version is unpasteurised and keeps the beneficial bacteria intact, which is why it must be refrigerated once opened.

How do I use my miso?

Miso is wonderfully versatile. A few simple ideas:

  • Stir into soups and stews for a rich, savoury depth.
  • Mix into dressings, sauces or marinades.
  • Spread a thin layer on toast (lovely with avocado or olive oil).
  • Dissolve a spoonful into hot (not boiling) water for a quick miso soup.

Avoid boiling water with our living miso, as very high heat affects the beneficial cultures.

Is your Japanese Miso made with Japanese rice?

No, the Japanese Organic White Miso is not made using Japanese rice.

I cannot open the lid on my miso jar

The seal is genuinely tight. A few things that usually help:

  • Tap the lid gently around the edge with a spoon to loosen the seal.
  • Run the lid under warm (not boiling) water for 20 to 30 seconds.
  • Use a tea towel or rubber glove for extra grip.
  • Turn the jar upside down and tap the base to release the vacuum.
  • Gently pry the lid edge with the back of a spoon.

If it is still stuck, please email hello@naviorganics.uk and we will help.

When will the miso be back in stock?

Miso sells out frequently. Please use the "Notify me when available" form on the product page and our system will email you the moment it returns. For specific timing, see our stock and availability article.

Can I return miso, or exchange one type for another?

Miso is a perishable food and cannot be returned or exchanged once it has left us. Please see our returns article for the full perishables policy. If something has gone wrong with your order, please email hello@naviorganics.uk and we will look into it.

I have a sensitivity to aspergillus or histamine, can I take miso?

Miso contains aspergillus (koji). We are not able to give personalised advice. Please consult a qualified holistic practitioner for guidance based on your specific sensitivities.
