Because our products are wild-harvested, small-batch and unstandardised, natural variation in taste, colour, smell and texture is part of how they arrive. We see this as a sign of real food, not a flaw. That said, if anything ever feels truly off, we want to know.

Why does this batch taste, smell or look different from the last one?

The way we source means our products are not standardised. Our quality standards are about sourcing, potency and purity, not about uniform colour or flavour, the way you would expect from large-scale agriculture. Every batch is a snapshot of the season, the soil and the place it was harvested from. Some products (Jiaogulan tea is a good example) vary noticeably batch to batch.

I think my product has gone off or smells rancid

Please email hello@naviorganics.uk with a clear photo of the product and the batch code on the packaging. We will check the batch against our stock and come back to you with next steps as quickly as we can.

My A2 ghee has a strong, almost off-smelling note. Is that normal?

Yes. A2 ghee has a stronger, more pronounced aroma than many people expect. It can almost smell a little "off", but this is normal for A2 ghee and does not affect its taste in cooking. There is nothing wrong with the jar.

My bee bread is harder or drier than before

Our bee bread comes from a single beekeeper, usually ordered once a year and part-dried at our request to keep it softer. When that bespoke stock runs out mid-year, we have to buy in pre-dried stock which is harder. The fresh part-dried batch returns each autumn.

I want more of the same batch I just received

Please email hello@naviorganics.uk with the batch number on your jar and we will check whether it is still the current batch. Most of the time it will be.

My jar is past its best-before date, can I still use it?

If the product has been stored properly (cool, dry place, lid closed) and there are no signs of spoilage (mould, off smell, unusual colour), it is generally still fine to use. Best-before dates are mostly about quality and potency rather than safety, so the main difference is that the product may gradually become less potent over time. If you are reintroducing it after a long gap, start with a small serving and stop if anything seems off.
